Construction that Revitalizes in Denver’s LoDo

Construction that Revitalizes in Denvers LoDo - Conco

Denver, known also as the Mile High City, lies at the foot of the Rocky Mountains, at the place where the vast mid-western plains abruptly give rise to rugged forests and craggy peaks that are topped with snow nearly year-round. The striking mountain views the city is famous for are preserved by the city view plane ordinance, which protects views from various parks and public places by limiting building height and encouraging construction that complements, rather than obstructs, the Rockies’ position in the Denver skyline. As the city continues its rapid growth, there are many opportunities for architecture and construction outfits, including commercial concrete contractors in Denver, up to that task and looking to make their mark on the expanding cityscape.

Union Station

One expansion and renovation project the city has enjoyed is the revitalization of the area around Denver’s Union Station, the old train depot and historic landmark. Located in the lower downtown, or LoDo, section of the city center, Union Station was originally built in 1881 and welcomed west-bound trains brimming with goods and passengers from the far off coast and cities in between. Now, the renovated and restored Union Station is a hub for the city’s growing light rail transit system as well as a bustling multi-use commercial space featuring restaurants, shops, and offices. The success of Union Station has also enlivened the surrounding neighborhood blocks, bringing in yet more businesses as well as new residential buildings. With the variety of amenities in a walkable neighborhood, many city dwellers are looking to make their home in this trendy part of town.

1650 Wewatta

One such project is the 21 story luxury apartment building at 1650 Wewatta called The Platform at Union Station, located right next to the dynamic city hub. The building boasts 288 residential units, and 260 much-coveted parking spaces in the heart of the city, as well as a pool, athletic club, and spa. The project began construction in 2013 and was completed in 2014, around the same time Union Station wrapped up its renovations. The Conco Companies, a commercial concrete contractor, provided around 18,700 cubic yards of concrete to create the bold, modern design of the apartment building that features high ceilings and oversize windows in each unit that perfectly frame the iconic views of the Mile High City.

The Conco Companies’ mission is to be the best supplier of concrete services in the Western U.S. and to bring expertise and incomparable quality to each project. We continue to upgrade and expand our facilities to better serve the growing market for commercial, educational, parking structures, public works projects, and other development.
